マーク・シャッフェル訴訟の陪審員が選出される

マーク・シャッフェルによるマイケル・ジャクソンに対する経済的訴訟の判決を下す陪審員12人の中には、2005年の児童虐待事件でマイケルが有罪だと信じていた3人が含まれている。

マイケルは昨年6月にすべての容疑で無罪となった。しかし、マイケル・ジャクソンが無罪か有罪かという質問は、水曜日の陪審員選出の際に彼らに尋ねられた。マイケルの弁護士であるトーマス・C・マンデルが、選ばれた陪審員たちに、昨年の性的虐待事件でマイケルが有罪であると思うかどうか尋ねたところ、4人が手を挙げ、そのうち3人が決定を下す陪審員に選ばれた。

ある女性は，「この男性についてはいろいろ思うことがあります。どうしてそうしないわけがありませんか。彼についてたくさんの本を読みましたし，彼についてたくさんの意見を持っています」と述べました。

マイケル・ジャクソンについての彼女の意見が、シャッフェルの金銭訴訟に関してこの法廷で下す評決に影響を与えるかとの質問に、彼女は「影響力はある」と答えた。

彼女は決定メンバーの中に選ばれたが、同じくマイケルが有罪であると信じていたこの男は、マイケルにはこの事件に関連して人格的に弱点があると思うと述べ、メンバーから外れた。

マイケルの元ビジネスパートナーであるマーク・シャフェルは、マイケルに対して380万ドルの訴訟を裁判所に起こした。シャッフェルは、マイケルがチャリティーソングの制作費と、ドキュメンタリー「リビング・ウィズ・マイケル・ジャクソン」に応じて制作されたMTVの2つの特別番組の制作費を支払っていないと主張している。

マイケルはまた、シャッフェルが彼をだまして過去を隠したと語った。

木曜日には補欠の陪審員が選出され、その後公判が開始され証人らの証言が行われる予定だ。

On Wednesday, Howard King, Shaffel’s attorney, told the jury members: “I represent the anonymous side in this case. I think everyone knows マイケル・ジャクソン.”

King gave a brief history of Mark Shaffel’s collaboration with マイケル・ジャクソン. He said that since Michael’s money ran out, he no longer paid Shaffel’s wages.

Michael’s attorney, Mandle, also said that Shaffel is a porn producer and that Michael was unaware of this fact when he hired Shaffel. Shaffel had no expertise in music recording, while he was supposed to produce a charity song for マイケル・ジャクソン.

He added that after Michael learned about Shaffel’s background in producing porn, he fired him from the team.

The dispute is whether Shaffel shared in the income from the sale of this charity song in Japan, or whether Michael paid Shaffel’s wages for his work on the song.

Mandle added: “The evidence shows that in fact Shaffel owes Jackson.”

In the same session, the jury members were told that Michael would not be present in court, but they would watch videos of him testifying about this case.

A nurse, who was also one of the selected jurors, said that when Michael was hospitalized in 1984 due to burns to his hair, she had met him. The nurse said: “His behavior with the children was wonderful.”

This comment made the court audience laugh and caused her name to be removed from the list of deciding jurors.

The trial for this case will be held this week in Santa Monica.
