5 December 2002 - Interview with Bunte magazine

On his recent trip to Germany, Michael gave an interview to the German magazine Bunte, parts of which Reuters quoted in a report:

“ I still want to go out in Berlin to buy CDs. It’s unbelievable. No matter where I go, they’re always after me. I need the experience of being able to walk into a store like a completely normal person and make my purchase.”

Without paying attention to criticism about covering his children’s faces with masks, he said: “ They love the Spider-Man masks... They’ve seen the movie over and over again. It’s great. I’ve memorized the whole film perfectly. I tried to keep variety in their program by showing them a few Disney movies, but they only want to watch Spider-Man!”

Speaking about his appearance at the Bambi ceremony, he said: “ I was embarrassed. It was the first time I’d worn my medical glasses in public.”

When he was asked what his children think about the fans and security people who follow them everywhere when they’re with their father, he said: “ Right now Paris is copying me. Whenever I tell my fans “I love you”, she says “I love you. I love you too, from the bottom of my heart” !!!”

He also said that his children were only allowed to bring two things from their trip back home. Playing PlayStation or a computer at home is forbidden. At breakfast, Michael tells the children fairy tales, and they don’t watch television when their father isn’t there.
