Michael’s request to return the seized property from Neverland

June

Three days after Michael Jackson’s acquittal on all ten counts was announced, his defense attorneys returned to court to submit a request to have the property seized by the police returned.

Judge Melville ordered that Michael Jackson’s passport, as well as his $3 million bond, be returned to him as soon as possible.

However, no decision was made regarding 600 items of property that had been seized by 70 police officers during two detailed searches of Neverland. The judge only instructed the prosecution staff to review these items and announce whether there was any reason to keep them seized.

Judge Melville also announced that he intends to release all evidence and documents related to the court sessions.

He said that this material would not include personal information of the jurors.

Prosecutor Thomas Sneddon, who was not present at Thursday’s hearing, had told reporters the day before that he did not intend to return the photos taken in 1993 by the police of Michael Jackson’s genital area, because they might be useful in the future.
