Historic First Moonwalk Performance to Be Released on DVD

The description of a new collection long missed by collectors reads: "MOTOWN 25: YESTERDAY•TODAY•FOREVER is coming to DVD for the first time — featuring the world debut of the Moonwalk. The Motown 25 celebration aired on NBC on May 16, 1983, and was an instant success. The highlight that drew the most attention was Michael Jackson's debut of the Moonwalk — 6 seconds that changed the world. But Motown 25 had other remarkable moments as well: the reunions of The Miracles, The Supremes, and The Jackson 5, the first group showdown between The Temptations and The Four Tops, and host Richard Pryor — the hottest comedian in the world at that time." This year, for the first time, the historic Motown 25 celebration will be released on DVD. Motown Records — with its vast roster of Black artists — celebrated its 25th anniversary in 1983. That was the same day Michael Jackson unveiled his Moonwalk to the world for the first time. It is said that after the event ended, artists and famous stars crowded around to meet and congratulate Michael on his electrifying, history-making performance. Michael Jackson's performance at Motown 25 set a new standard in the live entertainment industry. The Motown 25 set includes six DVDs and performances by Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder, The Miracles, The Supremes, The Jackson 5, The Temptations, The Four Tops, and many others. The set also includes 14 hours of bonus footage, 20 minutes of previously unreleased rehearsal footage of Marvin Gaye and Stevie Wonder, and 25 exclusive interviews with Motown 25 performers and production team members. The set will be released on September 30 and is available for pre-order here. This collection is produced by StarVista Entertainment/Time Life and is priced at $79.95.
