Second Statement From the Estate Regarding the Sale of Neverland
Last night we sent you an email about Colony Capital's sale of Neverland. Many of you have requested that the Estate purchase Neverland. As you know, the Estate does not disclose details of its financial activities, but last night's Estate statement read: "The Estate has explored the available options regarding this property with Colony Capital." (This section was not included in the statement released to the media.) For various reasons, the available options were not feasible. This sentence was included specifically for fans in the statement so that you would know the Estate sought a way to preserve Neverland, but for certain reasons this was not possible.
Shortly after we sent the statement to you, Zack O'Malley published the story in Forbes. He has provided further explanation in that piece which may help you better understand the situation. (Read here)
The Estate, like you, is saddened and disappointed by Colony's decision. Michael's legacy lies in his music, his humanitarian work, and in his spirit. The Estate hopes that whoever the new owners of the property may be, they will appreciate the value of the property — not only for its beauty, but for its historical and cultural significance.
