Michael Jackson’s Immortal Tour Breaks Records

Michael Jackson was a record-breaker, and three years after his death he continues to set new records.

Last Saturday, the “Immortal / Cirque du Soleil” show took the stage at the Parken Stadium in Copenhagen, Denmark. Not only were tickets for the show completely sold out, but it was also the largest stadium (with an 18,000-person capacity) in which the Immortal tour had been held. Eighteen thousand people is a fairly normal number for Michael Jackson concerts, but the shocking point is that Cirque du Soleil, in the history of its founding, had never seen such a crowd.

The Copenhagen show is not only the most crowded performance of the Immortal tour, but also the most crowded show in the history of Cirque du Soleil.

Immortal goes on stage based on Michael Jackson’s songs, videos, and stage performances, brought to life by Cirque du Soleil acrobats and dancers. The tour became number one in the United States. After the end of the North American tour, Immortal came to Europe. At the start, it also became number one in the UK. The O2 Arena, which was supposed to host Michael’s This Is It tour in 2009, hosted the Immortal tour for eight nights from October 12 to 21. All tickets for those eight nights were sold out. In this city, Immortal entertained a total crowd of 78,777 people and earned revenue of about £4.5 million (about $7.2 million).

Since it opened last October until now, the Immortal tour has had 1.5 million viewers and generated $163 million in revenue. The European leg of the Immortal tour is still ongoing.
