Katherine and the kids attend the Jackson brothers’ concert

Friday night, Katherine and Michael’s three children attended the Jackson brothers’ concert in Saratoga, New York.

The concert, featuring Jackie, Marlon, Tito, and of course Germain, who played an active role in the recent family chaos, was held as part of the “Unity” tour.

One quarter of the seats in the concert hall were empty on Friday night, and Katherine and Michael’s children sat in the back rows among the crowd. Katherine, Prince, Paris, Blanket, along with TJ and his son Royal—who are almost the same age as Blanket—were present at the concert with their bodyguards. According to witnesses, during the concert Paris was tense and sad and was crying. She held her brother Prince’s arm or rested her head on his shoulder, and her brother comforted her.

One fan, who was sitting in the row right behind the Jackson family, said:

“When Katherine arrived, people clapped for her. A few minutes later, Michael’s children came in. Their seats were right in front of us, and when Prince walked this way, he looked straight at me. I greeted him, and he answered with a gentle smile. I asked for permission to hug him. He said, ‘Yes, of course,’ and then I whispered in his ear, ‘God bless you.’

Their security warned people who were taking photos and videos, and they also stared at me with their scary eyes a few times. But I was still able to get some photos and video. As you can see, he’s looking straight at me in this picture.”

During the concert, Blanket and Royal were joking and laughing with each other. They looked at the people who were singing along and dancing with the singing group, and they were having a great time. They pulled each other’s hats and burst into laughter. Once, Prince even put his jacket cap on his head to make them laugh even more.

Everyone in the crowd was standing, and Blanket couldn’t see the stage. Prince, TJ, and their bodyguard arranged things so that Blanket could stand on a chair. I didn’t understand much about the concert that night because my eyes were on Michael’s kids. At one point, I realized Prince was saying that Blanket’s current position wasn’t suitable because the girl standing behind him (that is, me) might not be able to see the stage. I assured them there was no problem. With a smile, Prince asked me if I was sure. He then thanked me.

At first, the group performed songs by the Jackson 5. During the middle of “I’ll Be There,” which Michael sang as a child, Paris started crying and rested her head on Prince’s shoulder. Prince would occasionally lean toward his sister—especially toward Blanket—to make sure they were okay. Paris seemed sad and upset for most of the concert and spent more time working on her mobile phone.

Then it was time for songs by the Jacksons. As the concert continued, Michael’s children lost some of their initial energy and were just watching the stage. When “Heartbreak Hotel” was performed, Paris turned back for a moment to look at the people standing behind her. Her eyes were shining with tears.

When the group sang songs from their father’s albums, Germain’s voice was dominant. When the first Michael song was performed, his children joined in, until something apparently upset them and they stepped away from the concert atmosphere.

The group performed “Don’t Stop Till You Get Enough” and “Wanna Be Startin’ Somethin’.” Jackie, Tito, and Marlon sang the part of “Wanna Be” that says “You’re a vegetable” as they faced Germain passing in front of them—maybe it was accidental, or maybe it had a specific meaning.

Germain performed “Gone Too Soon” by himself, while images of Michael were shown on the monitor behind him.

Germain sat on a platform in the middle of the stage and said that they were still a family despite everything that had happened recently. Prince didn’t pay much attention to Germain’s words and got busy with something else.

When the group performed “Shake Your Body,” they were gradually getting ready to leave. I didn’t want to miss the last chance to talk to them and tell them that the fans were thinking of them. I tapped Paris on the shoulder, and she turned toward me. Her blue eyes were stunning and glittered in the darkness—it felt like her gaze was penetrating my soul. It took me a few seconds to speak, and I said, “The fans are with you.” She smiled and accepted my request to hug her. I whispered in her ear, “We love you. God be with you.” Then her bodyguard warned me that that was enough. After that, Paris and, following her, Prince said goodbye with that same gentle smile and left.”
