AEG’s Case Against Joe Jackson Removed

Yesterday, a hearing was held to address the lawsuit filed by Joe Jackson, Michael’s father, against AEG (AEG) and Conrad Murray, Michael’s involuntary manslaughter killer. During the hearing, the judge struck the company’s name from the case.

AEG was responsible for organizing Michael’s This Is It concerts in London. After Michael’s death, these concerts were also canceled. In his lawsuit, Joe Jackson claimed that the company, by hiring Dr. Murray, had arranged the circumstances of his son’s death.

The company’s lawyer called the court’s outcome a major victory for AEG.

In court, the lawyer tried to show that Joe Jackson was not a party with a financial interest in this case because Joe Jackson did not benefit from his son’s wealth and was not one of his heirs, and also, according to the lawyer’s own words, he was not and is not financially supported by Michael. Therefore, he argued, Joe Jackson cannot sue the company.

The lawyer also said it would have been better if Joe Jackson had filed a joint lawsuit together with his wife, Katherine.

Katherine Jackson filed a lawsuit against the company and Conrad Murray in September 2010, and after that, Joe Jackson took the same action.

The judge, confirming this, said that the law considers a joint lawsuit for all parties with an interest in the case, and that all of these people must submit their complaints to the court in a single joint lawsuit.

Katherine Jackson’s lawsuit against AEG will be reviewed on September 10 of this year. Katherine says the company is responsible for the mistakes made by Michael’s doctor, Conrad Murray.

Conrad Murray caused Michael’s death by administering an overdose of propofol and then leaving him. In the room where Michael died, there were no medical facilities needed for rescue, including a heart rate warning device or a shock and artificial respiration device.

Katherine says the company was aware of Conrad Murray’s treatment method but refused to provide the necessary equipment.

The fact that Katherine and Joe filed separate lawsuits against the company and Murray is due to differences between them. Now Joe can share in Katherine’s lawsuit if Katherine agrees.
