John Branca Receives a Grammy Service Award

It has been announced that John Branca, a prominent entertainment-industry attorney and advisor, one of the two trustees of the Michael Jackson Foundation, will receive the Grammy Service Award at a ceremony on February 10 at the Beverly Hills Hotel. The award will recognize his valuable legal services, in partnership with the legal advisory center Ziffren Brittenham LLP and his former secretary role on the board of MusiCares, a charity supporting musicians.

(Before his death, Michael was one of the supporters of MusiCares. According to his will, 20% of his fortune goes to charitable foundations. The names of the charitable institutions that receive a share of his wealth after Michael’s death have remained hidden, but it seems that MusiCares is one of them.)

It is said that Branca had the highest number of clients among entertainment-industry lawyers. In addition to Michael, he represented 28 other individuals or groups, including Rolling Stones, Aerosmith, the Jackson 5, Carlos Santana, the Bee Gees, Barry Gordy, Alicia Keys, and Backstreet Boys. He has also worked for Forbes magazine.

The Grammy Service Award was established in 2006 to honor the services of legal attorneys in the entertainment industry and people who support musical activities and help advance the goals of the music industry.
