Michael Jackson’s Sales Since His Death

Something as small as death can’t stop the King of Pop’s song sales. Billboard’s chart says that Michael Jackson’s song sales after his death so far equal 33% of his total song sales from 1991.

Within the first 6 months after Michael’s death, 11 million tracks and 8 million albums were sold. In 2010, track sales reached 3.7 million and 2.1 million albums were sold. It’s estimated that in 2011, his album sales will be about 1 million, and the number of sold tracks will be about 3 million copies.

In 2009, his best-selling album was Number Ones with 2.74 million. After that, This Is It with 1.67 million, Thriller with 1.49 million, The Essential Michael Jackson with 1.38 million, and the album Bad with 550,000 copies.

Over these two years so far, Michael has sold 16.3 million tracks. His best-selling track is “Billie Jean” with 1.26 million copies. “Man in the Mirror” with 1.23 million, “Beat It” with 1.11 million, “Thriller” with 1.04 million, and “Smooth Criminal” with 872,000 copies come after “Billie Jean.”
