Michael’s Kids Tell Oprah About Their Father (With Download Link)

Yesterday, Oprah Winfrey’s interview with members of the Jackson family aired on television. The program began with Catherine, then continued in the yard with Joe, and then with Prince, Paris, and Blanket (Michael’s children aged 13, 12, and 8). In this interview, Paris revealed a hidden talent of the King of Pop: cooking!

Paris: He was really a normal father—except that he was the best dad in the world. I felt like nobody understood how good a father he was. He was the best cook. He made the best French toast. He prepared the best breakfast in the world.

Prince clarified an important point about the masks he and his sister and brother wore as children, and about how, in the past, their father had been targeted by the harshest media attacks: when they went out with Michael, they covered their faces so that no one would recognize them when they were without him and cause trouble for him. They appreciate that their faces were covered as children because they know it was for their protection.

Paris says with a smile: He tried to raise us without us knowing who he was, but in reality, he wasn’t very successful. Prince talked about his memories: when we were in Bahrain, we used to wake up early and go walk on the beach.

Paris: One time we were sitting on the roof of our house in Las Vegas. We could see the Luxor (the hotel) and all the city lights. We ate Snickers and soda.”

Paris: Sometimes he would take me to museums because we both love art. We played outside. He bought Kenia (our pet dog) for us four years ago.

Prince and Paris have been going to school since this year, and maybe Blanket will also enter fourth grade next year.

Blanket said Prince could have gotten away with breaking his father’s rules, but he couldn’t.

Prince said his favorite hobbies are video games and sports. He wants to make movies and direct, and Paris also wants to become an actress.

Oprah asked: What do you miss the most? Paris answered: Everything.

Regarding the day Michael died, Catherine said, at the hospital:

“You know what broke my heart the most? When the hospital employees told us, ‘You can leave now’… and Prince and Paris said, ‘Where are we going?’…”

Catherine says that although the children have adjusted very well to their new lives, they often remember their father:

“… ‘Dad did this, Dad did that. Dad did it like this.’…” Paris is very emotional. She talks about him all the time. She is strong. All the pictures on the walls of her room are of Michael…”

Regarding the day Michael died, June 25, 2009, Catherine says: “It was the worst day of my life.”

She released the book Never Can Say Goodbye in memory of her son.

“They didn’t tell me he was dead. They waited until I got to the hospital. They told the doctor (Conrad Murray, Michael’s doctor and accused of his involuntary manslaughter) to tell me.”

But Murray dragged it out, and Catherine couldn’t take it and cut him off.

Before she started crying, she says: “I asked, how is he? How is he? Did he make it? And he said, ‘No, he died.’”

“I can’t accuse him of murder. I don’t know whether there was intent or whether it was an accident.”

She said she had tried to keep Michael away from drugs like propofol and surgery. About Michael’s nose, she says: “I thought it had gotten too small. I told him, that’s enough—why do you keep going?”

Oprah told Joe Jackson that she was surprised by seeing him in this house because she had heard rumors about their divorce. But both of them denied it. Oprah asked Joe whether his son was afraid of him.

Joe denied it and emphasized that he had never beaten Michael or any of his nine children, but in the end it was revealed that he had whipped Michael!

Catherine was sitting next to Joe… “He used a whip. Yes, he did. He used a whip.”

Of course, Catherine explains: “Black people raise their children this way.”

Joe defends himself: “That kept them from going to prison. It made them grow up well. Those nine kids have never gone to prison.”
