Katherine Jackson: The Vienna ceremony is extraordinary

Katherine Jackson, Michael’s mother, said that the ceremony planned for next month, September 26, to honor her son in the city of Vienna in Austria, is a wonderful idea—and that her son would have loved it. Jermaine Jackson, Michael’s brother, is the one who is organizing the event, and holding it in Vienna was his idea. The ceremony will take place on the grounds of a palace dating back to the 17th century.

In a letter, Katherine wrote: “A ceremony of this scale not only keeps Michael’s spirit alive, but beyond that, it gives millions of fans the opportunity to enjoy his music and celebrate my son’s life. I’m sure Michael would have loved it.”

This handwritten letter, dated Thursday, August 20, was released by the organizers of the memorial event.

Initially, the memorial was supposed to be held on Michael’s birthday at London’s Wembley Stadium. But after Jermaine traveled to Vienna to receive an award that had been given to Michael, he decided to move the venue from London to this city. Katherine Jackson also called this suggestion a wonderful idea and wrote:

“I fully support Jermaine’s determination to spread Michael’s message: ‘Making the world a better place for all human beings.’”

Jermaine said that the reason for holding the ceremony at a 17th-century palace is that: “He loved the palace.”

At the end of her letter, Katherine Jackson mentioned Michael’s fans and wrote that she has been moved by the love and support that fans have shown her beloved son Michael over the past month.

Last week, the website that had been set up to sell tickets for the ceremony shut down due to an influx of internet users and heavy traffic.
