A Michael museum in Gary

Gary’s mayor, Rudy Clay, said yesterday that their team is considering opening a museum to pay tribute to a child from this city. Gary, located in the U.S. state of Indiana, is Michael’s birthplace and the home town of all the children of the Jackson family—the place where this family began their music. The discussion about establishing this museum was the main purpose of a meeting held in the city hall building on Monday. According to the mayor, the meeting was extremely productive: “ We have a lot of work to do.” They want to find a suitable location around “Jackson Street 2300,” the Jacksons’ home in this city, to establish a museum. The idea of a museum for the Jackson family has been discussed for several years, but so far it hasn’t been realized. For example, city officials met with this family at their Encino home in 1995 to talk with them about the matter. Last year, Joe Jackson visited this city to support the idea of establishing a museum. But the museum was not built in the location they had planned because the city hall concluded that the area wasn’t large enough. Enthusiasm for establishing a museum about the history and memorabilia of Michael Jackson and his music family increased significantly after the death of the King of Pop.
