Number Ones is America’s second best-selling album of 2009

In the week ending August 2, this Michael Jackson album sold 114,000 copies and has sold a total of 1,370,000 copies in 2009 so far. That means it has surpassed the soundtrack album from Hannah Montana, which sold 1,338,000 copies, as well as Eminem’s new album Relapse, which sold 1,319,000 copies. Number Ones is the second best-selling album in the U.S. in 2009, after Fearless by Taylor Swift, which sold 1,499,000 copies. Since the day of his death, Michael has sold a total of about 4 million music pages. His Number Ones album was #1 until this Sunday, and with sales of 114,284 copies, it was the only album in the past week to sell more than 100,000. For five consecutive weeks—out of the last six—it has been the best-selling album in the United States. This week, the album “Leave This Town” by Daughtry surpassed Number Ones with 269,000 copies, pushing it down to #2.
