A Clay Statue of Michael in Paris

In this photo, French artist Jean-Baptiste Sculer is completing a clay sculpture of the King of Pop. He is working on a street in front of the Pompidou Center in Paris to show that even without silence and focus, and even in a busy environment, it is possible to create a work of art.

He says a public place is a suitable location to display a sculpture of the King of Pop because his death—regardless of whatever feelings we may have—has somehow affected the lives of all of us.

He began working on this sculpture on July 25, one month after Michael’s death, and says people often see busy street painters in Paris, but seeing sculptors is rare.
