Thriller stays #1 after 25 years

After 25 years since its release, the Thriller album has once again taken the top spot on the best-selling chart. Michael Jackson’s astonishing album—which is the best-selling album in history—jumped from number 47 to number one on the Billboard Pop Albums chart in the past week with sales of 31,000 copies in the United States. That means a 1000% increase. This was the biggest Billboard chart event of the past week.

This success came as a continuation of the Halloween celebrations wave and the hype that had spread to break the Thriller dance performance record. In late October, a large crowd of fans gathered at the Madame Tussauds museum in New York and broke the record for the largest group Thriller dance performance in one location.
