A three-day Michael Jackson festival, the most famous son of Gary, was held in this city from Thursday to Saturday to mark his birthday, with the presence of members of the Jackson family.

As in previous years, Katherine Jackson attended the event along with three of Michael’s children. It’s worth noting that last year Paris had been unable to attend the celebration due to issues. She had attempted suicide last summer. However, this year Paris was present alongside her brothers at her father’s birthday celebration in Gary, and according to sources, she seemed very happy and in high spirits.

Prince, Paris, and Blanket—Michael’s children—are 17, 16, and 12 years old, respectively, and since their father’s death they have lived under the guardianship of their grandmother.

Michael’s children met with his fans in the courtyard of their childhood home, took souvenir photos with them, and signed autographs. Prince, as always, wore the necklace that was a gift from his father. Blanket, who is on the verge of entering his teenage years, has still kept the long, straight hair that his father loved. Paris’s charming smiles also remind many people of Michael.

The three-day Michael Jackson festival began on Thursday afternoon in Gary. First, the marching band entered the streets of Jackson 2300 and, through their performances, paid tribute to Michael. The ceremony began with remarks by Mayor Karen Freeman-Wilson and city officials. After that, young artists took the stage to showcase their talent by performing songs by Michael. Later that afternoon, the event continued at Roosevelt High School, hosted by Debora Cheng.

The next day, Roosevelt High School’s baseball field hosted the ceremony, and various artists took part in the program.

On Saturday, other events were held as well, including a competition and a fireworks show. The music group Mindless Behavior was one of the performers that day.

The mayor and city officials believe that holding Michael Jackson festivals in Gary presents a positive image of the city. They also say that the existence of such festivals introduces young people to the arts. They have expressed hope that Michael Jackson’s celebration will grow even more in the coming years.
