Captain EO 3D Film Temporarily Removed from Disneyland California
The screening of the 3D film Captain EO, starring Michael Jackson, will be temporarily suspended at Disneyland California. In August, it will give way to Guardians of the Galaxy in the special Magic Eye theater, where Captain EO has reigned for years.
Naturally, once that film's run is complete, Captain EO will reclaim its old home — having been a fixture there for over twenty years, it will once again welcome its eager audience.
Captain EO, though described as a 3D film, is actually one of the world's first 4D films. During the screening, audiences should expect various physical effects including smoke and laser light. The film, starring Michael Jackson and Anjelica Huston, produced by George Lucas, and directed by Francis Ford Coppola, made its debut at Disneyland parks worldwide in 1986 and remained one of the park's main attractions for over a decade. Following Michael's passing, Captain EO returned to Disneyland in 2010 and has continued drawing audiences ever since.
It is worth noting that two Michael Jackson songs used in the film — "Another Part Of Me" and "We Are Here To Change The World" — were later released on two of Michael's albums: BAD (1986) and The Ultimate Collection (2004) respectively.
