Timbaland's Mix of Michael Jackson Song and Estate Denial of Album Rumors
According to Dope Boyz, music producer Timbaland last Thursday released a snippet of a new mix of Michael Jackson's "Slave to the Rhythm" as a work preview on SoundCloud.
Last August, Timbaland had released a video on Revolt TV's YouTube channel saying he was working on a Michael Jackson album. He explained that this assignment had been given to him by L.A. Reid — another producer and an X Factor judge — though it remains unclear exactly what L.A. Reid's role in all this is. Timbaland had said the album would be a completion of Michael Jackson's legacy and called it a collaboration of "two kings." The Timbaland video from Revolt TV was removed shortly after. Now Timbaland's new mix has also been removed from SoundCloud after a short time, though you can listen to it here.
On a related note, Sky News reported that a new Michael Jackson album was imminent, to be released in April. Based on the new collaboration between the Michael Jackson Estate and Sony on the Xperia Z2 smartphone project, the outlet had written that the new album would be exclusively available on those phones.
On Saturday, the Michael Jackson Estate issued a statement to Michael Jackson fan websites denying this news, stating that any new decisions or announcements regarding releases of Michael Jackson's work would come exclusively from the Estate and Sony Music. The Estate further noted that neither they nor Sony had provided any information about the King of Pop's next album, and reminded fans not to believe everything they hear. The Estate pledged that whenever a release is on the way, fan sites would not be forgotten and would certainly be among the first to be informed via Estate emails.
