After two rounds of voting, the website popicons named Michael Jackson the winner of its "Greatest Male Music Icon" poll.
In this poll, the King of Pop won by a substantial margin over his rivals. More than seventy thousand people participated in the survey. Michael secured first place with 40% of the vote, while Freddie Mercury and Elvis Presley came in second and third with 21% and 20% respectively. Jon Bon Jovi took fourth place with 7% of the vote. The remaining 38 candidates ranged from 0 to 1%. It is also worth noting that David Bowie, George Michael, and Bruce Springsteen placed fifth, eighth, and ninth.
