Judge: I Won’t Change the Guardianship of Paris Jackson
Judge Mitchell Beckloff said yesterday that he will not change the legal guardianship of Michael Jackson’s children. Three of his children are being cared for by Katherine and T.J. Jackson—his grandmother and cousin. The judge explained that he made this decision after reviewing the reports from his special investigator, who had interviewed the children, and after speaking with the attorneys for their guardians.
Previously, it was said that Paris’s actions might change the fate of her guardianship—but that didn’t happen. After Paris Jackson cut her hand with a hatchet on June 5 (news), the judge opened a case to examine Paris’s mental health and also the suitability of her guardians. After midnight, Paris cut her hand with a hatchet, took 20 ibuprofen pills, and requested help by contacting a counseling center. The center contacted emergency services at 911, and shortly after, an ambulance was sent to the children’s home. Paris was hospitalized for three days in the psychiatric unit of West Hills Hospital, and then transferred to UCLA.
According to Yahoo News, the judge’s decision was announced in a session attended by Howard Weitzman, the attorney for the Michael Jackson Foundation. Weitzman said that if the judge decided to reveal the “sexual details” of the petition filed by Wade Robson, it could cause further harm to 15-year-old Paris. Beckloff said he would think about it and inform the attorneys of the outcome. Another hearing will also be held later so the judge can decide whether to allow Robson to present his claim in court. After Robson raised his claim, the Michael Jackson Foundation filed a countersuit and asked the judge to ignore his complaint and not give him the chance to present his claim.
Regarding Michael’s children, the judge said no other action was necessary, and Perry Sanders, Katherine’s attorney, supported his decision.
