Conrad Murray: The AEG trial will prove my innocence

Conrad Murray, who two years ago refused to testify in his own trial, called again one of the television networks to declare himself “innocent.” He says he hopes the AEG trial will prove his innocence, and then he can get his medical license back and restart his medical career.

Yesterday, a police officer testified in the AEG trial that Murray’s negligence caused Michael Jackson’s death. He also said that this doctor sold his Hippocratic Oath for a sum of money.

Last Friday morning, Murray made a phone call from prison to the Today show, called himself innocent, and said that the court that sent him to prison was not fair. In his remarks, Murray described himself as a victim of injustice. This is while he still refuses to testify again and has not cooperated regarding the AEG case.

Murray, who was sentenced in November 2011 to four years in prison, may be released this October and spend the remaining two years of his sentence at home, or he may receive parole. This new California law is meant to address the problem of overcrowding in prisons.

From the moment his feet entered prison, Murray began complaining about everything, including how small his room was. In some newspaper articles, it was joked: “Murray, you’re in prison—not a hotel!”

After his request for release was previously rejected by a judge, he filed another request again and, through his lawyer Valerie Wass Piger, is pursuing it.

In his latest statement, Murray said he is seeking to clear his name and restore his reputation—not simply to be released from prison.

Murray also said in this phone call that he does not accept responsibility for Michael Jackson’s death, and that Michael himself was the cause of his own death.

The show host reminded him: “But you were the one who prescribed propofol for him and injected it into him.” Murray replied that Michael injected it into himself. This theory was rejected in the trial two years ago.
