AG Court Session 10: Were Parts of Michael’s Rehearsal Footage Deleted?

On Monday, Kevin Boyle, Catherine’s attorney, brought up a topic for discussion in court.

He said they believe that AEG—the company that recorded Michael’s rehearsal footage with advanced cameras—deleted scenes from the footage in which Michael appeared unhappy, on the orders of the company’s CEO, Randy Phillips. Boyle said that Paul Gongaware, one of the company’s executives, was responsible for cleaning up part of the footage on Phillips’s instructions.

The Daily Mail wrote that in the coming days, Kevin Boyle will show emails in court that indicate this action.

One hundred hours of the remaining footage were handed over to Sony so it could produce the film This Is It. Sony used about two hours of this footage in the documentary TII. Sony stored the rest of the footage in its studios under strict security measures. The film became the best-selling documentary in history.
