Prince Jackson on Why He Named His Kids Prince and Paris

Prince, Michael Jackson’s 15-year-old son, has very little activity in the online world, but when he does come to Twitter, he usually has something important to say.

Three days ago, he asked people to vote for his Democratic opponent, who has created positive changes in the country, arguing that Mitt Romney, the Republican presidential candidate, supports war—and that this conflicts with his father’s peace-loving nature. Prince announced his support for the re-election of Barack Obama to the U.S. presidency in the following way:

“It’s time again to choose our president, the person who will represent us in domestic and foreign affairs. I have no political bias or affiliations, and no one can influence my thoughts, but maybe I can share what I believe with you. In my opinion, both parties have great ideals and major flaws. I remember that when Obama was elected four years ago, my sister and brother and dad and I were watching the news. Dad said this was a historic moment—he talked about the election of the first African-American, and of course how a man like Obama was able to change the country. My personal opinion is that Obama has made good changes; he has tried to transform many things, but he has been held back by certain political parties. This man has brought the economy back—or at least improved it compared to the chaotic situation the previous president was responsible for. He didn’t have an easy task ahead, but he did it to help his country. I’m not a patriot, but I want to help the country I live in. If I could vote, I would vote for Obama. I have nothing different from you who are reading this text. My father is black, my mother is white, and there are other races too; I’m a son and I’m fifteen years old. These are the things that describe me, but I’m also a human being just like you. I love, I hate, I laugh, I cry, I get hurt, and I can die. Obama has focused on peace—or at least stopping the decade-long war. I understand that without war, we didn’t know the meaning of peace; but Romney believes in military action. My father believed in peace—not just peace, but world peace. Obama is also just a human being like me and you, but he has created change in this country and other countries. Yes, he is the president, but with his re-election we can help him. Let’s unite the world. For some of you, this tweet is worthless—it’s not a problem; but for some others, it might seem like the truth. And Romney, I’m not one of those 47% of people who support you. I’m a human being who believes I know the right way, and I believe that Barack Obama is the right choice for America. Let’s elect him for four more years.”

Today, the presidential election is being held in the United States.
