Michael Jackson Foundation: His clothes will not be sold

As you read earlier, it was planned that some of Michael Jackson’s historic outfits would be sold at an auction on December 2. Today, the Michael Jackson Foundation said in an email that they have prevented the sale of some of these items.

Some time ago, fans had asked for the sale of these clothes to be stopped by creating a page on Facebook. (News)

The statement says:

"The Michael Jackson Foundation informs Michael fans that some items that were in the possession of Michael Bush and Dennis Tompkins and are currently on display around the world will not be sold at the December 2 auction.

Michael Bush agrees with the Foundation that the most iconic part of these items is part of Michael Jackson’s legacy and must be preserved. After the display ends, these items will be returned to the Michael Jackson Foundation."

Michael Bush wrote on his own Facebook page yesterday:

"Friends, since the start of the sale of my book (King of Style), I have been deeply moved by the love and admiration you have shown for Michael Jackson. This book includes photos and descriptions of the clothes and ideas that I had the chance to work on for 25 years alongside the greatest entertainer and showman in history. Although some of the items that I and Dennis Tompkins have collected over the years will be sold at the December 2 auction, I have decided to donate many of the items that were intended to be part of the auction to the Michael Jackson Foundation so that, for the years to come, they can be protected and preserved by this organization. I understand the historical importance of these clothes, and although some of these items were gifted to me by Michael, I’m happy that I was able to share them with fans through display in galleries—and in the end, place these clothes in the Michael Jackson Foundation’s permanent ownership."
