Will Conrad Murray go home for Christmas?

The Sun newspaper has claimed that perhaps Michael Jackson’s killer could be released from prison before Christmas arrives. He was sentenced last November to serve four years in prison, and it was said that under California’s new law—and due to overcrowding in prisons—he may receive parole after serving half of his sentence.

Murray’s defense lawyers say his presence in prison is meaningless. Last year, the judge called Murray a disgrace to the medical community and said his presence in society is a threat to the public.

His lawyer, Valerie Wass, made an odd statement: "It’s ridiculous that Conrad Murray spent a year in prison." She also expressed hope that this doctor will return to his children for Christmas celebrations.

Wass says Murray’s appearance has changed so much that he is unrecognizable: his hair has turned white, he has lost a lot of weight, and he can barely walk.

On June 25, 2009, Conrad Murray injected Michael with a large amount of the anesthetic drug propofol, and then left him alone. In the absence of the doctor and a heart-rate warning device, Michael suffered respiratory and cardiac arrest and died. In court, the judge said that Michael Jackson’s death was not the result of a single mistake, but rather a chain of serious and consecutive errors that directly resulted from Dr. Murray’s misconduct.
