Janet Jackson is accusing Vanity Fair

Vanity Fair magazine, some time ago, published a portion of Randall Sullivan’s new book, which—according to him—is a retelling of Michael Jackson’s life. The book is based on statements from unreliable sources, each of whom, in one way or another, either has financial problems or has had a legal dispute with the Michael Jackson Foundation.

Now Michael’s sister, Janet Jackson, has recently complained about this book and Vanity Fair’s decision to print part of it. Vanity Fair, citing Sullivan, wrote that Janet’s greed for money caused her brother’s funeral to be delayed by three months. (News)

A more complete version of the Vanity Fair article is expected to be released in November, and Janet’s lawyer has asked this magazine to remove the section related to Janet Jackson. The lawyer called the article false and defamatory and said: "Mrs. Jackson never caused the funeral to be postponed. She paid for the ceremony, and one year after the funeral, the Michael Jackson Foundation settled part of those costs with her."

Janet’s lawyer also asked Vanity Fair to announce in a statement that this claim is false.
