Conrad Murray: prison is killing me bit by bit

Michael Flanagan, one of Conrad Murray’s lawyers, wrote in a letter to the Los Angeles sheriff that prison is slowly killing his client.

Flanagan wrote that Murray has been living in a cramped cage for almost a year, even though his cell is not suitable for keeping a dog. The lawyer says that with his height of 196 centimeters, Conrad Murray cannot move inside this cell. Conrad Murray was sent to prison for four years last November for the crime of involuntary manslaughter in Michael Jackson’s death. Due to security issues, prison officials have separated him from other inmates.

Flanagan also wrote that Murray’s appearance has changed drastically compared to the day he entered prison.

Murray walks on the prison roof every Monday evening for two and a half hours each week. In a phone conversation with his friend, he expressed concern that prison would leave him disabled and sick until the end. He says his legs are swollen and, "Maybe I’ll never be able to wear boots again." Since Murray has little mobility, he is worried about blood clots forming in his legs.

In that conversation, he says he felt severe pain in his legs and had been transferred to the prison clinic. He then explains that blood clots are very dangerous and may reach the lungs and lead to death. Of course, after the prison doctor determined that Murray was healthy, he was returned to his cell.

In that conversation, Murray also uttered a threatening remark: "I don’t want to suffer from these things for the rest of my life. And if that happens, I won’t accept it."

Conrad Murray should know that prison is not a hotel.
