Celebration by Artists of Latin Heritage for Michael Jackson

Tony Succar, a Peruvian musician, has recorded an album to pay tribute to Michael Jackson by bringing together eighty artists of Latin heritage. The album is called «Unity: The Latin Tribute to Michael Jackson».

Succar had nurtured the dream of recording such an album back in ۲۰۰۹, after the death of the King of Pop. He says that music has a single root:

"American music comes from jazz, soul and funk, and Michael also used those same styles. And those styles also come from Africa. Latin music, salsa, is also Cuban-African, and the styles of R&B, samba and plena also have this connection."

Succar pursued the legal route to obtain the rights to perform and record Michael Jackson’s songs. His requests were rejected many times, but when he showed the company the list of artists who were going to collaborate on the project, everything changed. When Sony heard Michael’s songs being performed with new arrangements by them, it decided to support the album.

The album will be released at the beginning of next year.
