Smokey Robinson: Michael Is the Best
Smokey Robinson recently appeared as a guest on the Access Hollywood TV show and sat down with Billy Bush for an interview. Billy Bush hosted the Chinese Film Awards, which took place in January, during which Michael’s hand and footprint were pressed into cement by his children.
During the program, Smokey Robinson said that Michael Jackson is “the best,” and that he will never be freed from the grief of losing him.
“I don’t think I’ll ever get over this grief. Michael was like my little brother. We’ll never forget him because his music will be played forever and ever and ever, and I’m sorry we lost him so soon at such a young age. I don’t think I’ll ever be able to come to terms with his loss.”
He also commented—confirming Billy Bush’s remarks about the possibility of using a hologram of Michael Jackson onstage—calling the technology amazing and continuing:
“Since I was three years old, I’ve watched many entertainers in the entertainment industry. I’ve seen every TV show related to this profession, and I think that among all the artists, Michael was the best in every way… I’ve known him since I was 10. When he was 10, it was like he was 30, and when he was 30, it was like he was 10 (laughs). He was incredible. It was unbelievable that a child had such talent, and he sang and danced with such beauty.”
Billy Bush also talked about Michael’s children:
“Michael would be happy that his children are doing well. I’ve met them—they’re incredible. They smile, they have fun, they have a good life.”
The female host sitting next to them described Michael’s children as “steady and lovable.”
