An Iranian dancer inspired by Michael Jackson (Video)
Navid Rezvani “Be Bovi Spaghetti,” an Iranian dancer abroad in the hip-hop and breaking style; last night in the second part of the program “Man.To.Plus” on the “Man.To.1” network, he was a guest of Parisa and Siaush.
When asked how he pursued a career in dancing, Navid said: "As a child, I moved out of Iran with my family. In the Philippines, I saw Michael Jackson on TV and something in my heart was captured. For me, it was like a story—how a man can stand on stage and entertain a huge crowd with his music, with his dancing, with his words. I wanted to become such a person in society one day. I kept my focus on that and continued my studies. I went toward taekwondo, ballet, and different kinds of dance, and from each of them I learned something."
In 2001, he moved to Norway with his family and pursued dance professionally. Navid says Norway is a wealthy country that shows a lot of respect for dance and entertainment, and it looks at a dancer as an artist. He then realized he could earn money from his dance career.
In 2006, Navid was a finalist in the Norwegian competition “So You Think You Can Dance,” and after that he took part in various TV programs and musical theater productions in that country. He also has “The Lion King” on Broadway, New York, on his résumé. He participated in a hip-hop dance festival in San Francisco and surprised Iranian viewers with an Iranian song. Navid has traveled to different countries, and he is on his way to India to make a documentary and teach dance to kids. He has also been invited to international dance competitions in South Korea.
During his trip to Iran, he taught dance to Iranian youth and made a 45-minute documentary film from it, with parts of it aired during the program.
