Moffett Says Michael Jackson Was Eager for Cirque du Soleil

On this page, you’ve read many times about Johnathan Moffett and his writings about Michael Jackson. He was the drummer for Michael’s tours and worked with him since the Jackson 5 era in the 1960s.

Now, as the drummer for the Immortal tour, he performs on stage alongside the dancers and acrobats of Cirque du Soleil. He has worked with many famous people such as Elton John, Madonna, and Lionel Richie, but no one becomes “Michael Jackson” for him.JohnathanMoffett-MJ-1.jpg

“I started my career 33 years ago with the Jackson Brothers in Los Angeles. This path has been a divine fate for me. My circle of life is complete.

I started with Michael — he was my little brother. I was with him for more than 30 years, more than half of his life and more than half of my own life. And it’s very important to me that the night before he passed away, I worked alongside him in the stadium.”

Moffett says the Immortal tour, which Cirque du Soleil presents based on Michael’s songs, has been a long-standing wish of the King of Pop.

“He had a lot of excitement about Cirque du Soleil in his heart. Over the past 10 or 15 years, he was always looking for a way to collaborate with them. The Immortal tour has fulfilled his wish.”

The Immortal tour is produced in collaboration with the Michael Jackson Foundation, and that’s why Moffett calls it an official memorial show for Michael. He says he feels proud to be part of this production.
