Joe Vogel: Michael Jackson learned that staying the same means death

The teacher and award-winning book author “Man in the Music” has recently conducted an interview with BusinessNewsDaily, in which he spoke about the legacy of the King of Pop and his artistic and commercial achievements. Vogel says Michael Jackson’s genius went beyond musical boundaries and entered the world of business. His billion-dollar music publishing company is now a symbol of that same genius. Question: It’s clear that Michael Jackson wasn’t just raw talent or good luck. There’s another trait involved here. A managerial trait. Something that made him the King of Pop. How do you explain that? MJJ1.jpg Joe Vogel: One of Michael Jackson’s top traits was his ability to dream—having a dream of something outstanding, different, and creative—and then the determination and work ethic to turn his dream into reality. He constantly challenged himself and the people around him to do something beyond the ordinary. He often encouraged his friends and colleagues to read the book “Jonathan Livingston Seagull”* (Jonathan Livingston Seagull). It’s a fictional story about rejecting conformity, not accepting limits, and striving to reach the highest boundary. See, even at age 50, for the This Is It tour, moderation or the middle ground meant nothing to him. He wanted these shows to be better than anything people had ever seen. Question: Do you think his ongoing decision to reinvent and recreate himself was a conscious step to keep himself fresh and exciting in the eyes of his audience? Joe Vogel: Michael Jackson realized that for an artist, staying the same is like death. He hated the idea of constantly repeating only one specific rule. So he was always changing—rebuilding his image, his posture, and his voice. In this way, he kept people in a position where they would always wonder what his next move would be, and demand more from him. *Written by Richard Bach, 1970—one of Michael Jackson’s favorite books Source: eMJey.com / businessnewsdaily
