What’s Going on with Conrad Murray?

Conrad Murray, convicted of Michael Jackson’s murder, is currently in prison. But he hasn’t given up on trying to get his freedom. His appeal case has been taken to the appellate court, yet he doesn’t have enough money to hire a defense attorney. His three defense lawyers are no longer working for him, and Murray has asked the court to appoint a public defender for him.

Murray was hired with the goal of earning $150,000 to ensure Michael’s health. He caused Michael’s death through malpractice, and in the end, despite the lies, cover-ups, and extensive efforts of his legal team, he was unable to prevent the execution of his 4-year prison sentence. Although this isn’t justice, it is the maximum punishment the law allows for his crime.

He was married and had several children, but he had relationships with multiple women and fathered a child with one of them. Murray now has no money to cover court expenses and can’t afford the costs of his many children. He has lost his medical license, and if the appeals court upholds his sentence, we’ll have to see what Judge Michael Pastor decides regarding compensation payments to Michael’s children. The prosecutor has asked the judge to require Murray to pay $120 million in damages to them. Murray will never be able to come up with such money in his lifetime, but at least he can try to earn it until the end of his life.

Flanagan, his defense attorney in Michael’s murder trial, said in court that prison guards treat Murray like a dangerous criminal. Apparently, during one visit, he was brought into the room wearing handcuffs and an iron chain on his feet. Before the guards left Murray and Flanagan alone in the room to talk, they had handcuffed Murray to a chair.

Charles Peckham, who is pursuing the legal case against Murray, said that he is being held under heavy security measures in prison and is kept away from other inmates.

He said: It’s insulting that he’s being treated like Hannibal Lecter.

The prison supervisor defended their actions for keeping Murray isolated, saying: It’s for his own good.
