Thomas Mesereau Interview About Michael Jackson

Thomas Mesereau, last month (November 16), in an interview with Bill O’Reilly, once again defended Michael Jackson, his former client in the 2005 trial. In this interview, he said:

“The media had already condemned Michael before the trial even began. Information was supposed to remain confidential and hidden, but every day it leaked out here and there. On the first day of selecting the jury members, one person got access to the evidence and handed it all over to ABC News. Even the judge had ordered that the information remain sealed until the trial began. Everyone worked together to ruin public perception of Michael and his legal team.

In that case, it was said that five other people had also been sexually abused. I did everything I could to bring those people to the witness stand to testify. The claims made about these individuals were all based on third-party accounts. Three of the five came to the stand and said that the allegations were not true and that Michael had never committed any improper act. One of them requested money in exchange for withdrawing his claim, and the fifth—who was the complainant from the 1993 case—did not appear to testify, just like in that year.

A number of Michael’s former employees in Neverland tried to testify against him and say they had seen him committing the crime. They came to the stand one after another and said they had seen Michael in the shower, in the pool, and in his bedroom. Then the prosecutor tried his best to say something. The problem was that these people were exposing themselves on the stand, and their lies were being revealed. At the first stage, they had tried to sell their stories to the yellow press in exchange for money, and they had records too (one of them had been convicted years ago for stealing from Neverland and was then fired. Several others had lost in a financial case against Michael and were required to pay him a fine.) It was astonishing to watch them fall apart like dominoes.

In Michael Jackson’s world, there were countless malicious and opportunistic actors—con artists whose only thought was how they could reach their goals through Michael. He was the most famous star in the world and very wealthy. Not only did we prove their baseless claims, we also exposed them.

I believe Michael Jackson was 100% innocent. Not only was he acquitted, but his innocence was proven. All 12 jurors issued a not-guilty verdict ten times. I believe he was completely innocent. He didn’t commit any crime.”
