Julien’s Auction Fans Turned the Exhibit into a Shrine for Michael Jackson (Photo and Video)

This past Sunday, Julien’s Auctions invited Michael Jackson fans to take part in an exclusive display of household items from the house where Michael died. These items do not belong to Michael, but Michael had used them for some time.

These items will be sold at an upcoming auction titled “One Hundred North Carolwood Drive.” Michael’s last home was located at 100 North Carolwood Drive, in the affluent neighborhood of Holmby Hills, Los Angeles.

Darien Julien, the head of the auction house, told fans that they could display letters, cards, flowers, and any other gifts alongside the Carolwood House memorabilia. Fans didn’t hold back, and they turned the exhibition hall into a shrine for Michael. Everything could be found there—from a Christmas tree to photos and cards with Michael’s songs written on them.

Darien Julien said he had asked permission from the Michael Jackson Foundation so that fans could be part of the event, and on the other hand, Michael’s mother Katherine asked Julien to send the items fans placed in the hall to her home—for her and Michael’s children.

Julien said: “Fans prepare these items with love because they want Mrs. Jackson and Michael’s children to know how much they love Michael Jackson. Michael Jackson played an important role in our life and career. And we’re paying tribute in this way. It’s also fun and joyful.”

The bed on which Michael died was one of the auction items. The Michael Jackson Foundation asked Darien Julien to cancel the sale of this bed, and he immediately complied with their request and told fans that he would never disappoint them. The Michael Jackson Foundation has no role in this auction.

The space where the bed would have been was empty in the exhibition hall, and fans filled that empty space with flowers and gifts.

Some fans started crying while watching the auction items in the hall.

Kristin Tucker, a spokesperson for Michael Jackson fans from South Carolina, said about the exhibit:

“It’s very valuable because we don’t have a place where we can put our gifts there for the Jackson family.”

Twenty-five fans from South Carolina had spent the entire weekend preparing gifts for the exhibit, and Kristin brought their handmade items to Los Angeles.

Karen, 57, one of the fans, says she worked for a year on a chain she brought to the exhibit. There are the letter “M” and photos of Prince, Paris, and Blanket (Michael’s children) on it, and Karen had worked on it all night before bringing the chain to the exhibit. She says she left the chain unfinished because she didn’t know how to deliver it to Michael’s children, and she didn’t have the motivation to finish it. But this exhibit helped her complete her craft.

Among the items put up for auction, there is a mirror on which Michael wrote that he needed to practice hard for the This Is It tour. There is also a chalkboard belonging to Michael’s children with the words “I love Dad.” Another item that drew attention is a wooden bathroom board on which Michael drew a picture. Fans were especially eager to take a souvenir photo next to these three items.

Michael’s Carolwood House piano is another interesting auction item. The piano doesn’t belong to Michael, but given his great interest in the piano and the possibility that he played songs on it, it’s likely to be one of the lucky items in the auction.
