Michael Jackson Concert Film Didn’t Sell

As you read, a previously unseen Michael Jackson concert film from the Dangerous tour in Buenos Aires, Argentina, was scheduled to be auctioned in London on November 26.

It was estimated that the film would sell for between £4 and £5 million (between $6 and $7 million). But because the buyer would not have the right to distribute and broadcast the work due to copyright (this right is exclusively held by the Michael Jackson Foundation and Sony), so far no one has been willing to pay that amount.

The company responsible for holding the auction was forced, due to a copyright law violation, to remove a portion of the film—one that had been placed on their website as a sample—before the auction could take place. The auction spokesperson said the buyer would be fully informed about the ban on commercial use of the work.
