Yesterday, after the completion of the fourth court session, the judge sent the jury out and kept the defense and prosecution lawyers in the courtroom.
He issued an official warning to the defense lawyers. The judge reminded them that they are not allowed to bring this case to the media. This warning came after Matt Alford, one of Ed Chernoff’s assistants, spoke with the defense lawyers and told the media that the jury is very smart and knows that the prosecution failed to prove Murray’s charges. The judge had previously warned the lawyers about this.
Besides that, the judge criticized the defense lawyers for delays at the start of yesterday morning’s session and for their inappropriate and incorrect comments in court. The defense team has disrupted courtroom order several times so far.
For example, once Ed Chernoff tried to install a note pad somewhere and display a timeline of the events of the day Michael Jackson died to the jury. After 20 minutes of unsuccessful effort, it was discovered that the jury members couldn’t even see the note pad.
He also once asked questions of a witness while the audio recording was still playing in court, which upset the judge.
Chernoff has accepted that he is still new in cases involving high-profile people.
