Did Jermaine Jackson Really Save Michael’s Life?

Read that Jermaine Jackson claimed he once saved Michael from the danger of death. If Jermaine is talking about the same incident that Michael described in his book “Moonwalk,” then it seems he has apparently forgotten a few details.

Jermaine says Michael went under water and he jumped into the water fully clothed and pulled him out. But Michael himself writes in his book (Moonwalk, 1988):

“The filming of The Wiz was full of anxiety and worry for me, although I also enjoyed the experience. I remember the day of July 4 of that year (1977) very well. I was living at my brother Jermaine’s house. A few steps away from the shore, I was swimming in the waves when suddenly I realized I couldn’t breathe. I thought to myself, what is happening? I tried not to panic. I got myself back into the house and found Jermaine to take me to the hospital. One of the blood vessels in my lung had ruptured. After that, this never happened to me again, although sometimes I felt pressure and tightness in that area, which might have been only from suggestion. Later I learned that this incident was related to Pleurisy (or pleurodiaphragmatic, a type of lung disease in which the pleura of the lungs rub against each other when the lungs open and close). My doctor prescribed rest, but my work schedule didn’t allow it. Hard work and effort were the most important things.”
