Brazilian Taxi Driver Sings “Billie Jean”
A taxi driver from Brazil became very famous after a video of him driving and singing Michael Jackson’s “Billie Jean” made its way onto YouTube. Watch
The video of the performance by Jean Carlos Ribeiro Machado—captured by his passenger—was viewed on YouTube more than 2 million times within a few weeks, and the number of viewers is now surpassing 4 million. Jean Carlos has now become a superstar in his own right.
He says: “They told me over the radio to pick up a man named Diego. The man said that the dispatcher had told him that I sing like Michael Jackson. So I sang ‘Billie Jean’ for him and he recorded his video. I dropped him off at the bus station, and only then did I realize the video had gone viral on YouTube.”
“I’ve been a Michael fan since I was a kid. Since I was 10 or 11, I’ve listened to his songs and danced to them.”
This 32-year-old taxi driver has since appeared on Brazil’s national network under the nickname Jean Walker, and with the help of dancers, he sang Michael Jackson’s trailer song. He even sang for Michael’s father, Joe Jackson, during a trip he made to Brazil. Jean Carlos now has big dreams and wants to go to America.
