Mary Hart, who has been a host for 30 years, is retiring from this profession and, for this occasion, appears on various television programs to take a look at the results of her three decades of service to TV. In these programs, she talks about her best moments and memories from interviewing famous people—and of course, the name Michael Jackson always comes up before everyone else.

She says about the best interview of her career:

"The experience I had with Michael Jackson was very special. It was truly unique. Because nobody else had such a chance. Yes, of course, Oprah was able to interview him in Neverland, but I saw his rehearsal for the Bad Tour in Pensacola, Florida, years before that. I was with him on stage for two days and I saw how he expertly guided everything—every note, every pitch.

And then I was with him again in Kansas City and accompanied him to the stage. All the way down the path, he held my hand in his. Right up to the foot of the stage. And then he let go of my hand, and when he went on stage, he transformed from a shy person into an enormous stage-directing genius. That is the greatest and most remarkable thing I’ve seen in my entire life. Truly, it was like seeing smoke rise from the top of the scene."
