Backstage on the Michael Jackson Tour

Mary Hart, the host of Entertainment Tonight, went backstage in 1988 to prepare a report for one of Michael Jackson’s Bad Tour concerts.

She was the only reporter allowed to join the concertgoers’ prayer circle and, along with them, ask God for help for their success. She walked hand in hand with Michael, accompanying him to the concert stage in Kansas City, Missouri.

Mary Hart describes Michael’s concert as a spectacular, full-fledged show and says that if Andrew Lloyd Webber—the famous musical theatre composer—had been there too, he would have been clapping for her. Hart also says she had asked Michael whether he felt anxious about performing at a concert whose tickets had all sold out. Of course, the answer was no—though Mary herself was terrified.
