Adrian Grant and Thriller Theater

Adrian Grant (Adrian Grant) is a Michael Jackson fan and the creator of the incredibly successful musical theater Thriller Live. The actors in this show are teenagers and young people who perform on stage as Michael and his brothers (the Jackson Five), singing their songs and dancing like them. Those who play Michael are selected from among thousands of people. To play Michael, they must know how to sing, dance, and act.

The show has been touring on stages in different countries since 2006 and has gathered a large audience. This production is a tribute to Michael’s extraordinary 40-year career and his unmatched legacy.

Adrian Grant began his work with an annual festival in London. More than a decade ago, he was holding the “Michael Day” (MJ fan day) celebration in London. The idea for Thriller Theater came from there. But even before that, in the 1980s, he was publishing a Michael Jackson fan magazine, and within just 2 years after its first release, its circulation grew from 200 copies to 25,000.

Now he says:

“Thriller Theater gives people a great feeling. It feels like a concert. The audience is very lively and enthusiastic, and they welcome the show, and the actors get energy from them.”

At first, Adrian was a fan of Prince, the Black singer.

“In the 1970s, I knew that Michael was part of the Jacksons, but I didn’t become his fan until the Thriller album came out. When I first saw the Moonwalk, I thought, ‘Wow! That’s incredible!’ And then I became interested in his music. Many girls at school were crazy about him. At that time, I was more into Prince. Until I saw Michael’s performances. He was amazing on stage.”

Michael was one of the singers featured in Adrian Grant’s magazine, and in 1990 he invited him to Los Angeles, to the recording studio for the Dangerous album.

“I didn’t know what would happen, but the moment I walked into the studio, he had a very warm and friendly behavior. It wasn’t at all like what the media said. He was a normal man with an extraordinary professional career. He worked hard in the studio, and then invited me to Neverland for lunch. What I remember most about him is his kindness and generosity.”

In 2001, Michael attended the “Michael Day” celebration in London.

“He came and watched the performances from the corner of the stage. We had to build him a little booth. After that, he came on stage and spoke with the fans. People were out of their minds, and Michael told them how much he loved them. After that, I thought this celebration could become bigger. I saw the musical We Will Rock You based on Queen’s songs, and the idea for Thriller Live came to me.”

Thriller Theater has attracted fans of all ages, young and middle-aged. Grant is happy to keep Michael’s legacy alive in this way and continue his path. So far, 1 million people from 20 countries around the world have watched the show.
