A Michael Jackson statue in Fulham
A statue of Michael Jackson is set to be installed outside the sports stadium of Fulham Football Club in the south-west of London, as a tribute to the friendship between Fulham’s club director Mohamed Al Fayed (Mohamed Al Fayed) and the Pop King.
The statue will be unveiled on April 3 at Fulham’s private stadium. On that day, Fulham plays Blackpool.
Al Fayed says:
"The word ‘legend’ is an exaggerated term used in today’s world to describe celebrities, but Michael Jackson was truly a legend. He was my friend. A man with whom I had good memories, and a man who left this world suddenly and in such a sad way."
Al Fayed initially planned to install the statue outside the big Harrods store on Knightsbridge Street in London. But last year, he sold that store for 1.5 billion pounds to a Qatari company. Now the statue will be placed by the River Thames, next to Fulham’s small stadium.
Michael visited Al Fayed years ago to watch a match. On that day, he sat next to Al Fayed wearing a black-and-white scarf with the Fulham logo around his neck.
"He has left behind such a vast musical legacy that it takes your breath away. A young talent in childhood that became a genius and creativity of our era—something that will never be repeated. He will be followed, but he won’t be replaced. Michael Jackson has been unique and will remain so."
