Thomas Mesereau: Michael Was Not a Suicide
Thomas Mesereau, Michael Jackson’s senior defense attorney in his 2005 trial—where Michael was acquitted of child molestation charges—was upset by the defense strategy of the lawyers for the doctor accused of Michael’s involuntary manslaughter, and he expressed hope that this theory would fail. Mesereau blames Dr. Murray for Michael’s death and says Michael was not the kind of person who would commit suicide.
“The truth is that Michael would never commit suicide. He wouldn’t hurt himself the way they are trying to portray. I hope their defense is not successful.”
Of course, Murray’s lawyers do not believe Michael intentionally committed suicide. They have put forward the theory that Michael mistakenly injected the drug himself. But the strongest and most impactful part of Mesereau’s remarks is:
“I’m sorry that the lawyers are attacking my client, Michael Jackson, to defend their guilty client and to divert public attention.”
