Teddy Riley hits back hard at Quincy Jones

Quincy Jones, the producer of three Michael Jackson albums—Off the Wall, Thriller, and Bad—said last month that, for Michael as a perfectionist, it was unacceptable for his work to be released by other artists. He also said he couldn’t recognize Michael’s voice on some tracks. Teddy Riley reacted strongly to Quincy Jones’s comments, saying how could the 77-year-old Jones—who can barely hear people’s words—properly recognize Michael’s voice on these tracks. “Anyone who says this isn’t Michael Jackson’s voice is against me. To put it simply, they’re wrong.” Riley also said that the reactions of some members of the Jackson family who doubt the songs are very discouraging—especially when it’s actually them who profit from the album’s sales. Last month, Michael’s brother Randy said that Michael didn’t sing some of the tracks. Riley, who has collaborated as a producer on Dangerous, History, Blood on the Dance Floor, Invincible, and Michael, says more previously unheard songs from the King of Pop are on the way.
