Michael’s virtual planet
The Michael Jackson Foundation, in cooperation with a Los Angeles company, is building a virtual world for Michael Jackson on the internet. The name of this virtual world is “Michael’s Planet.”
This planet is part of Entropia Universe, a massively multiplayer online game with 100,000 active users, overseen by the Swedish company Mind Ark. The Entropia world is a virtual, three-dimensional space with dynamic solar systems. Depending on users’ different tastes, this world is divided into separate planets so that each planet can create a world of interest for each group of users. Users can travel between these planets to experience different worlds in entertainment.
Michael’s planet is planned for release in 2011. Online users can buy and sell products or virtual credits related to Michael Jackson on his planet. By paying real money, users can earn more virtual credits for these purchases and sales.
The Michael Jackson Foundation has welcomed this idea. They say his planet can be a suitable place to transfer Michael Jackson’s ideas and thoughts, and therefore not just an online three-dimensional game, but also a huge social base. Alongside the exciting pulse of trailer songs, Beat It and Smooth Criminal, this planet can also allocate space to songs such as Heal The World (healing the world) and ask users for help for humanitarian goals.
In an email statement, the Michael Jackson Foundation said: “We believe that this online game brings together Michael Jackson’s passionate fans with those people who have recently started discovering his art and talent in an exceptional setting—where his music, art, and dedication can be honored for those in need.”
