Michael Jackson Inducted into the Dance Hall of Fame

Michael Jackson was introduced yesterday as the 44th dancer and choreographer in the National Museum of Dance and Hall of Fame. All the dancers who have previously been inducted into the Hall of Fame are among the best in the world of ballet and dance. Michael Jackson is the first dancer from the pop and rock music world to be inducted into this Hall of Fame.

Marlon Jackson, who speaks like Michael—quietly and gently—after receiving his brother’s award, said on stage that he wished Michael were here to receive his award himself.

"I’m proud of his achievements in life. He is known for his abilities, his skill in dance and music. I feel very good inside... He would have appreciated this award. He was the kind of person who never gets arrogant."

On August 14, a celebration was also held for the ceremony the next day, with ticket sales benefiting charity. During that event, Michelle Rigai, chair of the dance museum board, said Michael was very deserving of induction into the Dance Hall of Fame.

"His pioneering approach to dance and his impact on the world of dance make him worthy of induction into the Dance Hall of Fame. He is the person who performed the Moonwalk for the first time. All of his dance moves—from the robot to the Moonwalk and his spins—are unique. This dance, alongside his music, makes him a complete human being worthy of being introduced in this Hall of Fame."

He broke down in tears when reading a letter that Katherine, Michael’s mother, sent to the museum to express appreciation.
