Michael’s Birthday Celebration This Year in Chicagoland
Recording company Ride Or Die along with the Fluvide charity will, on August 14 this year, hold a talent contest at the Regal Hall in the Northwest Indiana and Chicagoland area to mark Michael Jackson’s 52nd birthday.
Michael and his brothers participated in many talent contests in Indiana and Chicago as members of the Jackson Five group. In 1965, they won the Regal Hall contest in Chicago.
The contest coordinator, Michael Henderson, says: "This event is a memorial celebration in honor of Michael, and at the same time an opportunity for young talents... Michael Jackson’s talent is an undeniable fact. He started from here, and by holding this contest in this very place, we are honoring his memory."
First, the contestants will undergo preliminary auditions, and 20 winners will be announced for the August 14 contest. They must sing Michael’s songs or songs by the Jackson Five. Six winners will compete in the preliminary round on August 29 in Gary, Michael’s hometown. The prizes for the final winners include receiving a scholarship, appearing on a television program, staying at a luxurious Chicago hotel, and the opportunity to record a song with Ride Or Die.
