Michael’s Memorabilia Sold on the Anniversary of His Death

On Friday, on the anniversary of the passing of the music legend, Julien’s Auctions put some of his memorabilia up for sale. Darren Julien, the head of the auction house, says that in his 15 years of work he has never seen such a turnout for an auction, calling it a phenomenon. The auction’s revenue, which ended on Sunday, is close to $1 million.

The glitter-embroidered Victory Tour glove from 1984 sold for $190,000, while the expected price had been estimated at $20,000 to $30,000. Wanda Kelley from Los Angeles was the buyer of the glove and several Michael albums at the auction. She said she could have paid even more for these keepsakes. “I wouldn’t have left here without this glove.”

The jacket Michael wore in 1997 during an interview with Barbara Walters sold for $120,000. The expected price for the jacket was $6,000 to $8,000. Also, Michael’s latest signature dated June 24, 2009 — one day before his death — sold for $21,000.
